WE LET USERS DECIDE
Most companies decide their roadmap based on what will make money or what investors want. We let the community vote. If enough people want it built, we build it. Your upvote has more power here than any boardroom decision.
Why we exist, how we got here, and what we're building.
In late 2024, Udaysinh and Pratik were working separately on different projects. Both kept hitting the same wall:
Software agencies were building what made business sense, not what users actually needed. Everything was closed source. Communities had no voice in what got built. Corporate processes slowed everything down.
The question was simple: What if we built a software company differently?
What if users could vote on what we build?
What if we made everything open source?
What if we had zero corporate layers?
What if client work funded community projects instead of investor returns?
We didn't know if it would work. But we wanted to try.
That's WeLabs.
Four principles that guide everything we do
Most companies decide their roadmap based on what will make money or what investors want. We let the community vote. If enough people want it built, we build it. Your upvote has more power here than any boardroom decision.
Our community projects are developed in public on GitHub. You can see every commit, every decision, every bug fix. You can contribute, fork, or just watch. No proprietary secrets. No hidden agendas.
Client projects pay the bills and fund community projects. This means we're not desperate for every dollar, and we can say no to projects that don't align with our values. Sustainable idealism, not starving artists.
We're not trying to scale to 100 employees. Small teams move faster, communicate better, and care more. Everyone here knows what everyone else is working on. No bureaucracy. No politics.
Seven people. Different skills. Same frustrations with how software companies usually work.
FOUNDED: Early 2025TEAM: 7 peopleLOCATION: Pune, India (remote-friendly)FUNDING: Bootstrapped (client work funds everything)
We choose community needs over profit. This isn't charity—it's a different business model.
Community projects open source. Client projects private. Internal tools open-sourced when useful.
Code, roadmap, and decisions are public. Only client projects and personal info stay private.
We build right, not fast. We say no to projects that compromise quality.
No buzzwords. Honest talk. Direct communication, always.
No crunch culture. No burnout. Good work comes from rested people.
WeLabs is an experiment. We're testing whether a community-driven software company can actually work. We think it will, but we are honest about the uncertainty.
